Dear Customer:

Swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs bring years of enjoyment. They give you an opportunity to spend time with friends and family, while providing many health and fitness benefits.

Swim Chem and the California Spa and Pool Industry Education Council (SPEC) reminds you to make sure your pool is ready for summer. Following a few guidelines can help assure that you’ll have a positive, safe, enjoyable experience.

Start With These Pool Safety Basics:

  • Responsible Adult Supervision is Key: This means no distractions and constant visual contact whenever children are present. A child can drown silently in as little as 30 seconds. If you have a pool or spa on your property, constant visual supervision is the surest way to prevent accidents!
  • No Broken or Missing Drain Covers: Never use a pool if the drain cover is broken or missing. Drain covers cover suction lines that can trap and drown, or seriously injure not only a child but adults as well. This is a serious situation that needs immediate attention.
  • Provide Layers of Protection: This means the pool, spa, or hot tub is equipped with several devices to delay unsupervised access or to warn of a small child’s presence. This includes fencing, safety covers, pool and door alarms, ropes and floats and an outside telephone for emergencies.
